STEELMEN MOVED TO THE MIDLAND FOOTBALL LEAGUE

18th May 2021

Following the news that the FA planned to go ahead with the next stage of the non-league pyramid restructure it has been confirmed that Bilston Town CFC will compete in the Midland Football League Division One in the 2021/22 season.

A move to a new league was guaranteed when the West Midlands Regional League lost its step 6 status as part of the ongoing restructure but the date had been thrown into doubt due to the second successive season football had been curtailed due to the pandemic.

The FA confirmed in May that the restructure would go ahead as planned with a PPG over the previous two seasons giving a number of teams the chance to move up the pyramid.

With Shifnal Town, Bewdley Town and Wolverhampton Casuals having been elevated to step 5 it means the Steelmen will face a number of new teams once the season kicks off in August as well as renewing some old rivalries.

Trips to Worcestershire and beyond now off the table we will instead be heading towards Birmingham, Coventry and Staffordshire with a few familiar Black Country derbies thrown in for good measure.
